Live video translation in Edge attempts to translate spoken audio or on-screen captions for videos in real time, so you can read subtitles in your preferred language while playing a video on a website such as YouTube. Now it shows a small pop-up menu or tool-tip containing the new audio translation icon.
Note:
It is possible to enable or disable this real-time video translation if you have the latest Edge version.
Before getting started, your device must meet the system requirements, i.e., at least 12 GB of RAM and at least a 4-core CPU.
Not all websites are supported. You can try it on YouTube.
If the audio doesn’t have loud background music, the translation will be pretty accurate.
Now you can enable or disable Live or Real-Time Video Translation in the Edge browser using Settings by following this:
1. Open the Edge browser. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner to select Settings.
2. Scroll down to find the Languages tab.
3. Find the Offer to translate videos on supported sites option, then turn it on.
If you want to disable the real-time translation, open the same settings in Edge and turn off the same button.
Users can also implement a new policy using Registry Editor to add or remove the new live video translation feature in Edge.
1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialogue. Type regedit to open.
2. Navigate one of the following paths:
If you want to enable or disable the new video translation feature in Edge for all Windows users, go to this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoft
If you want to adjust the new video translation feature in Edge for the current user only:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoft
3. Now right-click on the Edge key and on the right-side pane, and select New> DWORD (32-bit) Value option. Set the new DWORD name as LiveVideoTranslationEnabled.
4. To enable the new real-time video translation feature in Edge, set the value of the new DWORD to 1. If you want to disable it, set it to 0.
5. Now restart Edge, and the new video translation feature will be enabled or disabled.
That’s it. If you enabled the live translation feature in Edge, you can open YouTube and play a video in English to see the effect. Click on the Translate option beside the website address and choose your preferred language.
You will find that the video will be translated automatically and immediately.
The main benefit of live video translation is that you can watch foreign videos in your native language easily. Hope these two methods above help you enable or disable it as you desired smoothly.
