When Windows 11 hits a wall—freezing, stuttering, or the dreaded Blue Screen—most users waste hours digging through the cryptic, bloated logs of Event Viewer. Don’t. There’s a cleaner, chronological "black box" buried in your system that tells you exactly who the killer is.

The Fast Track: perfmon /rel

Forget navigating through the Control Panel.

Press Win + R, type perfmon /rel, and hit Enter.

This pulls up a visual timeline of your PC’s stability over the last few weeks. It’s the most efficient way to audit your hardware’s behavior without the noise.

Reading the "Crash Map"

The chart scores your stability from 1 to 10. A vertical drop in that line isn't just a glitch; it’s a trail.

The Red Circle (X): This is a critical failure. An app crashed, or a driver gave up.

The Yellow Triangle: Minor warnings. Usually, these are failed background updates that didn't kill the system but might explain a sudden lag.

The Filter: Click on any specific day with a dip in the graph. The list below will populate with the exact culprits.

Identifying the Villain

Don't just look at the names. Double-click any "Critical" event to see the technical details. Look for the Fault Module Name.

If you see amdkmdag.sys, your GPU driver is the problem. If it’s `ntdll.dll`, you might have memory corruption. This specific data turns a "my computer broke" complaint into a "my video driver is failing" solution.

Exporting for the Pros

If the fix is beyond you, don't take a blurry photo of your screen. Click Save reliability history at the bottom. This generates an XML log you can drop into a tech forum or send to your IT lead. It gives them the context they need to help you without the back-and-forth guessing.
